Woodware Design - Mens Cards

This week on Woodware we will be showcasing our ideas for making men's cards.  Usually, and as I have done here, I opt for the cute/comical option and I have used one of my Changito stamps from Stampendous, sold of course through Woodware, this cute stamp is available in wood and cling option, perfect for those men who love nothing better than to play golf, or at least claim to and nip down to the club house after! :)

I used the 8 x 8 paper pad called Whoop De Doo the earth tones in this pack
lend themselves perfectly to mens cards.  All of the paper is from this pack, it is
all double sided.
I stamped the monkey and coloured with markers
Then I used the 2" blue circle punch to cut out the monkey.
I cut the brown paper to 1 1/2" wide and I used 3 strips
I scored the paper at 1/2" intervals and folded like a fan.  The 3 strips were stuck together
to create the rosette.  This is the fun part as the rosette naturally wants to "ping" up.
You will need strong adhesive on both sides to keep this down and stuck onto your card.
With the pale yellow paper I used the yellow square punch to punch the ends to create
the ribbon effect.  This was all mounted together onto the small squared paper from the same stack.
Simple but very effective.  The changito stamps are available in many poses and other sports
too so there is something to suit all.   I am sure you will be seeing more of him from me as I am rather partial
to him and also his fluffly friend "fluffles the cat"

Check out the Woodware blog and also my fellow DT members, links can be found in the tab above.

Jane created a fab card yesterday creating a dinner jacket card and a beautiful rose in its pocket so if you missed it go and have a look now ;)

Pop by tomorrow

For week 2 of the Woodware Challenges.  This week we are looking at "Cards for men".

Windy Wittering

Well we're back from windy Wittering.  We were actually back early afternoon yesterday.  Had a lovely time but I really wanted to have the whole day at home today to sort everything out before work tomorrow.  Had the weather been glorious I am sure we would have stayed another night as we did have to pay for 3 nights but despite the weather we had a great time.  At one time there were 23 of us from Merstham who went out "crabbing" together and walking along the beach and getting our eyes sandblasted!  Not fun!  Bedtimes were fun with us having to wear wooly hats in bed!!  Here are some pictures.

It was great to have the kids friends around.  There were 2 other families camping and a few visitors too. We went to the pub Saturday night watched the footie, had a natter and then left a few of the men in the pub! to stumble back to the campsite a bit worse for wear!  All in all a lovely break, shame about the weather.

Some days...

Don't you wish everything would slow down and you could snooze like this?  They would have to be some mighty HUGE flowers to hold me up!! LOL

This lovely image is a new one by Penny Black and we got these in work last week.
This one is called "Posy Petals"

I have used my Magnolia Fence again, I said to my work friend Tracy the other week
I wasn't sure where mine was, but had a bit of a rummage about my palace and found
it.  Since then I have used it twice.  Make a nice little scene.
The image has been stamped onto a piece of white card  and cut out with
Labels One nestabilities.  I then mounted it onto this pretty Imaginesce Paper
and used my Flourish Martha punch along the edge of that.
Also added the cute little fiskars cloud punch too.

** edited to add this card was made under extreme stress... firstly when entering my palace a spider ran to stand on top of the door frame as I walked under it.  So I was more in that out so pulled up my blind and frantically waved at my puzzled hubby who finally understood my "spider" impression.  Then making the card I pulled my blind back down only to find its twin in my blind!  so I quickly rolled it back up and THEN daisy my elephant of a cat jumped on the roof and that was it for the night, I'd had enough scares.  I think I need to invest in some sealant and seal the little blighters out!

My first day

My first day off work when the kids haven't been around.  I spent most of the morning pottering around the house, resisting the urge to drive to work to get some new Penny Black stamps and talking with the lovely Dorothy the DT head for Woodware.  Lunch then after lunch a short spot in my Palace for a cardmaking session.

I made this card.  Its another 8 x 8.

I played with lots of things on here.

The striped paper and the light blue are from a Paper stack called LOST IN PARADISE from
GCS Studios and it comes from WOODWARE - ask your local stockist to order it in :)

The Stamp of course is Penny Black
The cloud shame is a cute punch from Fiskars via Crafts U Love
The fence is Magnolia, grass is Martha
The cloud stamp is a stamp I have had for a billion years from All Night Media
Now all i need is the missing sun stamp I tore my shed apart looking for :(  I cant find
it I don't know who made it.  I have googled too to see if I can buy it again. Alas its lost.

I might save this card for Caidens 5th Birthday next month.

Hope you like

For my Grandad

I made this card last night with my son Harvey in my shed.  He has been asking for some time to craft with me in the night so since we have Bank Holiday today I let him stay with me til 10pm   I made this card.  He made a few bits and we watched Godzilla in the palace too :)

When I brought this set I got it for the older men that I need cards for.  First one made is for my Grandad and I need to make one for my uncle next.

I stamped the bird first onto the card, then inked up again and stamped it onto an acrylic block to create the mirror image, like the bird is standing next to water.  This is a great set from Stampin Up!
